The start-up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stuffstr.com\">Stuffstr<\/a> tackles this issue: with its own App it collects used clothing and accessories from consumers \u2013 for the second-hand market or re-use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what distinguishes Stuffstr\nfrom other second-hand companies? This start-up primarily relies on data and information.\nIn cooperation with fashion labels Stuffstr collects data on the value of used\ngarments that can be up to five years old. The App then shows consumers fast\nand conveniently how much Stuffstr would pay to buy back the used articles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be it tuxedos, shirts or\nsocks: Stuffstr takes it all. The company picks up all the worn garments in\nquestion and has them \u2013 depending on the condition of the merchandise \u2013 either\nrecycled or sold on the second-hand market. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fashion producers, in\nturn, are informed by Stuffstr about how the merchandise is re-used and can use\nthis information in a meaningful way: for their product development or for\npricing when buying back used articles. The surveyed data also provide insights\non how the original price and the pay-back value influence shoppers\u2019 future\nbuying decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Atcheson, co-founder and CEO of Stuffstr,\nsees his company in the lead since it offers consumers unparalleled\ntransparency. They can trace exactly what happens with their used garments \u2013\ni.e. who buys them back \u2013 and at which price \u2013 or whether they are recycled. On\nthe manufacturers\u2019 part Stuffstr helps to make the industry more sustainable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an innovative approach that might\nbecome a precedent: many consumers have already realised by now that\nsustainability and transparency are also indispensable to purchasing apparel\nand therefore change their consumption behaviour. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Germany <a href=\"https:\/\/www.momox-fashion.de\">momox<\/a> is a prominent player on the second-hand garment market.
