It is one of the most accessible trade fair cities on the continent — by air, rail or road.

By Air

Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) is the closest airport, 15km from Koelnmesse. The S-Bahn (S13 line) runs direct, with no change of train, to Köln Messe/Deutz station — just steps from the Koelnmesse North Entrance. Journey time is around 15 minutes.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) — one of Europe’s largest hubs, served by over 300 destinations — connects to Cologne by direct ICE high-speed train in around 55 minutes. A practical entry point for attendees flying intercontinental.

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) connects to Cologne Central Station by direct train in around 40 minutes. It is served in small 200ml glasses called Stangen and keeps coming by a Köbes (traditional waiter) until you place a coaster on top of your glass. The PSI team’s picks for a classic Brauhaus experience are Früh am Dom, Päffgen and Malzmühle — all in the Old Town.

Is there a Michelin-starred restaurant in Cologne for PSI 2027 client dinners?

Yes. Sahila in Cologne holds a Michelin star. The kitchen draws on recipes gathered from the Middle East, Asia, South America and Europe, with most produce sourced within 30km. Bookings are recommended well in advance of the show dates.

When should I arrive in Cologne for PSI 2027?

PSI 2027 opens on 12 January. Most exhibitors and qualified buyers arrive on the evening of 11 January to be on the show floor from opening. Hotel and restaurant bookings in advance are strongly recommended — the city fills quickly around the show.

What is there to do in Cologne outside of PSI 2027?

Cologne Cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Old Town and Rhine riverfront are all within 15 minutes of Koelnmesse by S-Bahn. Museum Ludwig holds one of Europe’s most significant modern art collections. The Schokoladenmuseum sits on the Rhine promenade in the Old Town. A self-guided Brauhaus evening — moving between two or three traditional brewpubs — is the most authentic way to experience the city.

All restaurant and bar recommendations are the PSI team’s own — personally tried and hand-picked for PSI 2027 attendees.
