Dürninger Textildruck to modernise and invest

“Whingeing doesn’t help. We’re staying optimistic and looking for new opportunities.” With this statement, Albrecht Kittler, Managing Director at Dürninger Textildruck, sets the tone and observes, “We’ve maintained our standards.” Instead of complaining, the company is modernising and investing in digitalisation and personnel. In recent months, some of the machinery at the company headquarters in Herrnhut has already been replaced. Instead of three “old-timers”, as Sales Director Roland Lensing calls them, there are now three state-of-the-art screen printing machines in the large production hall. A six-figure sum was invested – “without subsidies”, emphasises the company head.

New digital printing technology for even more flexibility

Another purchase is due later on this year, when new technology for digital printing is being installed. “User-friendly, with higher performance, a wider range of colours and minimal noise levels,” says Kittler, highlighting the advantages. All of these machines are intended to make the company even more flexible, so that it can respond quickly to customer print requests for outerwear and workwear, promotional shirts, bags, school and club clothing, merchandising articles and many other products. For the company head, regular investment in machinery is essential, even in difficult times. “In this digital age, five or six years are like 100 in previous eras. You have to react quickly, otherwise there will be an irreparable backlog.”

More skilled workers and increased nationwide business

Dürninger is one of the leading companies for textile printing in Upper Lusatia. “Tradespeople, service providers, clubs, municipal organisations – almost everyone in the region comes to us when they want to have something printed,” says the Sales Director. However, Lensing sees untapped customer potential in nationwide business. Because of this, Dürninger will be focussing more on this in future. And especially this year. “We’ll be introducing software that enables us to handle our business processes much more efficiently – from incoming goods to production and invoicing. Online shopping will also be integrated.” Thousands of euros will also be invested here. In addition, new employees have been recruited in various areas, from graphics and embroidery to sales and direct import on the competitive labour market in Upper Lusatia.
