Successful sustainability ranking for packaging experts

Karl Knauer KG, a renowned family-run company in the packaging and promotional products industry, has been awarded the bronze medal in the latest EcoVadis ranking according to internationally valid sustainability standards. The respected award pays tribute to the company’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility and positions Karl Knauer among the top 35 percent of the companies rated worldwide.

In order to gauge the current status in the area of sustainability and to highlight potentials for optimisation, Karl Knauer once again submitted itself to the external rating process by EcoVadis. On participating, the packaging experts from the Black Forest once again achieved a successful outcome. Its diverse environmental measures – for example, waste management or steps to reduce CO2 – were accentuated positively, which secured an especially good appraisal in the environment field. Philipp Beyler, Director QHSE at Karl Knauer KG: “We are proud of the medal and are delighted to have done so well in the current rating. It goes without saying that we won’t be resting on our laurels, but will be implementing further optimisation measures so that we can act even more sustainably.”

Word comes from the company that Karl Knauer – instead of bowing to the constant pressure for ever more growth and expansion – has resolved to take other paths. “Instead of ‘higher, faster, further’, at an early stage we opted for higher-value, more efficient and more regional solutions,” explains Stefanie Wieckenberg, managing partner. “Our entire corporate activities, from development and production through material procurement to responsible handling of resources, are focused on sustainability.” The results: In 2023, the company became considerably more sustainable. With investments into environment-friendly technologies, energy-efficient production processes and initiatives to promote fair working conditions, Karl Knauer has continuously reduced its ecological footprint.
