In September, the Altenburg Playing Cards Factory, which is part of the Cartamundi Group, festively opened its new halls at the production location in Altenburg. Nearly one and a half years have passed since the official ground-breaking in April 2022 and all of the planned offices and production departments have moved to the modern new building with extensive ecological and social sustainability measures. The 20,000 square meter building offers sufficient space for production and storage as well as offices and social areas. While the facilities were spread on four floors on the old premises, everything is now on one floor and the numerous truck gates are directly accessible for storage and production.

Jürgen Gehr, managing director of the Altenburg Playing Cards Factory, is confident that the production quantities for card decks and boxed games can be increased again this year on the new premises. According to information from Cartamundi, the factory reported sales revenues of over 47 million Euros in 2022 despite changing consumer behaviour after the corona pandemic and full warehouses for publishing house customers, while employing approximately 300 people.
