Since November 2023, Westerwald-based table top specialist Mank Designed Paper Products has held its first EcoVadis certification, having received the silver medal at the get-go. The company thereby counts among the top 25 percent of all rated companies from the producing business worldwide. In the “other processing sectors” subcategory, Mank even achieves a placement within the upper nine percent.

“Our commitment to the integration of sustainability, combined with our permanent interest in being part of a responsible industry, reeled in this success for us,” Mank CEO Lothar Hümmerich is pleased to report. He adds: “We are harvesting the fruits of the work we put in and have taken a further important step towards one of our corporate goals!” Building a sustainable future by focusing action on social, ecological and economic sustainability has been the stated aim at Mank for years.

EcoVadis is a leading platform for the rating of companies from a sustainable point of view as well as for analysis and classification across a global, cloud-based software service platform. In order to receive the EcoVadis medal, a company must subject itself to the comprehensive rating process of EcoVadis sustainability practices. The process involved carrying out a complete analysis of the company and recording the findings in a rating form. The EcoVadis score is determined on the basis of 21 classification criteria in the core areas “Environment”, “Working practice and human rights”, “Sustainability and responsible purchasing”, and “Financial ethics”.

The silver medal therefore honours the company’s endeavours to reduce the consumption of natural resources, minimise waste, and optimise energy efficiency. However, this outcome also demonstrates that the people at Mank have also been paying particular attention to employees’ wellbeing and created a safe and healthy working environment. The success of being rewarded with the silver medal upon the very first certification also demonstrates that Mank is dedicated to promoting equal rights at the workplace and is simultaneously encouraging an ethical attitude towards the team, customers, suppliers and all other stakeholders.

The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) or the United Nations’ Global Compact and is hence one of the most reliable sustainability accolades in the world.
