Highest rating for Epson for the first time
Published on 24.04.2024
Epson – a global provider of printers, scanners and projectors – has been awarded the “AAA” rating for the first time this year, the highest rating in the MSCI ESG Rating. This was recently announced by the company. MSCI ESG Ratings is a global investment index for environmental, social and governance (ESG) provided by the rating agency MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International). MSCI researches and analyses a company’s approach to ESG-related risks and opportunities and ranks it on a seven-point scale from AAA (“Leader”) to CCC (“Laggard”).
Epson attributes its first AAA rating to its commitment to meeting internationally recognised, CSR-based standards for procurement and improving governance and human capital development systems in 2023.
Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724) has also been selected as a constituent for the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) and all other ESG-based indices for Japanese equities included in the Japanese Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).
Epson has identified four key areas that the company is focussing on: Achieving sustainability in a circular economy, pushing the boundaries of industry, improving the quality of life and fulfilling social responsibility – this goes hand in hand with the company’s philosophy of solving social problems and creating lasting value.
