The tradition-steeped cult brand for team wear, Russell Europe, is banking on a comprehensive catalogue of measures in matters of sustainability with “BELONG TO A BETTER FUTURE”. The company has various commitments, and this campaign supplies a context.

For years now, Russell Europe has been working intensively on minimising its ecological footprint: with responsible production, sustainable products, certification, maximum standards for working conditions and 100% supply chain transparency.

Member of Better Cotton

Alongside its membership of the Fair Labour Association FLA and amfori BSCI, Russell has also been a proud member of Better Cotton since 1 January 2022. The organisation’s task is to promote the survival and flourishing of cotton communities and protect and restore the environment at the same time. “We are proud of being a member of an association that improves global cotton production for people, the environment and the sector’s future,” reports Christian Lanvermann, Brand Manager at Russell Europe.

Sustainability meets quality and function

The sustainable jacket collection is a further example of the constant work on sustainability standards in the company. For example, the filling of the three Insulated Jacket models 430, 440 and 441 consists of Dupont™ Sorona®, which is 37% plant origin. The PFC-free Finish Aquapel by Nanotex® ensures that rain and moisture are repelled naturally. The innovative Bionic Softshell jackets by Russell are likewise from sustainable production. They combine protection against the elements with environmentally friendly materials without PFC and fluorine. The Bionic-Finish® Eco prevents water and dirt from persisting on the material’s surface.

100% transparency – 100% Oeko-Tex – 100% organic cotton

Today, Russell records 100% transparency concerning its suppliers, since the latter publish their data on the company website. The brand’s aim: full transparency for all Russell products – way back to the raw materials, including all the company’s own sites and direct suppliers. In addition, all Russell products are certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 (Product Class 2). This certificate is one of the most globally renowned labels for textiles checked for toxic substances. It symbolises customer confidence and product safety. The items in the Russell Pure Organic collection all consist of 100% organic cotton. One of the goals of the Pure Organic collection is to generate more awareness of environmental topics and quality. This collection is entirely characterised by sustainability – a real milestone for Russell in matters of sustainability.
