Kolibri GmbH, a renowned promotional product distributor from Kernen near Stuttgart, has achieved another important milestone in its sustainability agenda: It is now officially certified under ISO 14001, the globally recognised standard for environmental management systems. According to its statement, Kolibri is ‘one of the few companies in the industry in Germany that can boast this honour’.

The ISO 14001 certification proves that Kolibri has implemented a comprehensive environmental management system that goes beyond legal requirements. The aim is to work in a way that conserves resources and is sustainable and environmentally conscious in every phase of the value-added chain. The company was certified by Dekra. While the company was undergoing certification, it was also recertified with ISO certification 9001.

Since 2016, Kolibri’s company building has been equipped with the most modern photovoltaic technology, which covers 85% of its energy needs. The company is also consistently mindful of separating waste, recycling it and using sustainable packaging. Each year Kolibri calculates the carbon emissions from the Kernen site and offsets its emissions, including retroactively offsetting those since the company’s founding in 1996, which is in line with the founder Heiko Ziegler’s guiding principle: ‘We are only guests on this earth’.

‘Our customers are paying increasing attention to where they shop and which of their suppliers work sustainably’, says Kolibri’s Managing Director Karin Jagersberger. ‘We see ourselves as a pioneer in the industry in this aspect. Getting this certification was a logical and important step to make our philosophy visible to the outside world’. More information on the company is available at: www.kolibri.net
